Domestic tourism has enjoyed a significant rebound since reopening in Vietnam, with more than 100 million visits, up from 85 million before the pandemic began.

Compared to the set target of 60 million visitors this year, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said: “The miraculous growth in domestic tourism is a bright spot for the industry”. 

Vietnam has officially resumed domestic flights in the last year, while visitors’ quarantine rules have been removed. By May, when the pandemic had been contained, the necessity for medical declarations had also lessened, making travel more convenient and straightforward.

In contrast to domestic visitors, the number of international visitors reached 2.95 million in the first 11 months of the year, which is fairly low compared to the initial aim of 5 million. Vietnam offers preferential policies for foreign visitors, including visa exemption for inhabitants of 24 countries for stays of 14-90 days and one-month single-entry e-visas for all other tourists.
