Sleep tourism will become one of the popular travel trends in 2023.

Tourists will enjoy a deep sleep on hotel beds using artificial intelligence and twinkling lights under the night sky.

Under the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic crisis, more and more people are experiencing sleeping problems. According to a study published in the Journal of Sleep Medicine, up to 40% of the 2,500 adults who participated in the survey said that the pandemic seriously reduced their sleep quality.

Therefore, many tourism businesses, resorts, and hotels aim to provide services to improve the quality of visitors’ sleep. In particular, they focus on room design and offer sleep support services.

Rooms having special design with AI technology

Accommodations are focusing on building good soundproof rooms. One of the first hotels to notice sleep quality was Zedwell Piccadilly Circus (London, UK). The Park Hyatt hotel in New York also invests in inferior design and amenities to improve sleep quality. Specifically, Park Hyatt launched a suite of rooms called “Bryte Restorative Sleep Suite”, designed to separate from the chaos of the city. Each room measures more than 80 square meters and is equipped with a Bryte mattress which can control temperature, and provide sleep statistics. Customers can view detailed information on their phones and can meet individual needs.

In addition, hotels and resorts also invest more in bed sheets and pillows. The Figueroa Hotel in Los Angeles sends surveys to customers two or three weeks in advance about their choice of linens or blankets. Some hotels even aim to produce pillows tailored to customers’ sleeping habits.

 

Provide products and treatments to improve sleep

Hotels and resorts also provide sleep aids such as herbal teas, pillow fragrance sprays, essential oils, nebulizers, etc.

In particular, some even partner with therapists to support guests with insomnia. Therapist Malminder Gill has partnered with The Cadogan, A Belmond Hotel (London) to create a service for travelers with sleeping problems.

Sleep tourism is a trend that can attract many tourists this year. This trend proves that tourists are more and more interested in health care.
