China will resume its 15-day visa-free entry for citizens of Singapore and Brunei on July 26, 2023. The policy was suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Under the new policy, Singaporean and Bruneian citizens will be able to enter China without a visa for 15 days if they are traveling for business, tourism, family visits, or transit. Visas that have already been issued to Singaporean and Bruneian citizens will remain valid, and applications that have been submitted will be processed.
The resumption of visa-free entry is expected to boost economic and people-to-people ties between China and Singapore. The two countries have long enjoyed strong economic ties, and leaders from both sides have met several times this year.
Citizens of several countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Maldives, and Fiji, already enjoy visa exemptions for visits to China under 30 days. They only need to apply for a visa if visiting for over a month or for work, study, or migration purposes.
