Challenge
In late 2023, Danang faced the pressure of concerns about a decline in the number of international visitors to the city, especially the question of whether or not there was a shift in the Korean tourist market away from the city.
Danang FantastiCity need to do a comprehensive research to assess the Korean tourist market for Danang and to understand future trends in Korean tourist flows to provide a basis for Danang to develop appropriate solutions.
Approach
Within the framework of the project, based on a comprehensive analysis of outbound travel Korean market data and especially based on a direct survey of Koreans who plan to travel abroad in the next 12 months, Outbox has provided a detailed report analyzing the characteristics of the tourist flow, changes in the proportion of visitors to popular destinations, and the trend of Korean tourist arrivals to Vietnam and Danang.
In addition, our team also detailed the trends in choosing overseas tourist destinations in the near future, the factors affecting the choice of outbound destinations, and the image of Danang as seen by Korean tourists.
Insight
Based on the research, we forecast that Korea will continue to be the most important market for Danang tourism in 2024, the number of Korean visitors to the city will soon reach a positive recovery level, and we recommend that Danang continue to maintain preferential policies for communication towards this market in the short term to ensure the scale of its contribution.
As a result, after the first six months of 2024, statistical data shows that the number of Korean visitors to Da Nang has equaled the entire year of 2023 and continues to hold its position as the city's largest market, accounting for approximately 40% of total international tourist arrivals.
